Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Primary Election Fixed At Port Harcourt

The stage is now set for the Opposition political party-Peoples Democratic Party-PDP to elect a presidential candidate from the pack of aspirants jostling to pick the ticket. 

 

www.towncrier.ng in its findings found out the PDP Governors across the Federation met on Monday 10^th of September at Abuja and rescheduled most of the primaries election earlier fixed.  Rising from the that meeting , the Governors rejected the issue of consensus candidate while urging every aspirant to go in for proper election to be held at Port Harcourt venue of the National Convention of the party.

 

Adjustment were made on the order of national Assembly, Governorship, primaries and the picking of Expression of Interest Form having being extended from  September  17, 2018 instead of 11^th September 2018 which was the last day of collection of Forms. The National Organizing Secretary of the party Austin Akobondu  issued out letters which stipulated that September 20^th has been fixed for Screening of  National Assembly aspirants, as September 15,2018 has been accepted as designated for picking of candidates into the State Houses of assembly as Appeal arising from that exercise has been fixed on September 17^th, 2018 now to hold on October 4^th, 2018.

 

Meanwhile Congresses for Houses of Assembly will hold on September 30^th, 2018 as against the earlier date of September 28^th, 2018.While Appeals coming out from the Congresses will take place on October 2^nd, 2018. For Senatorial Districts Congresses and Appeals September 28^th and 29^th, 2018 has been selected as Governorship Primaries state Congresses will hold on September 26^th, 2018 as Appeal comes upon September 28^th, 2018.

The real reasons Port Harcourt was selected as a venue for the PDP National Convention center instead of Enugu and other cities was based on availability of hotels and accommodation for party members and accredited delegates. With this victory of choosing Port Harcourt as national Convention center it goes onto show that the Rivers state Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike remains a very strong force in Peoples Democratic Part PDP. The question on the lips of many Rivers state people is that of losing their “MR. QUALITY PROJECT” to the national political arena where he might be nominated as a Vice Presidential Candidate to the Winner of the Presidential Primary election.
