NFF grabs $4m Coca-Cola deal

 

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) grabs $4m Coca-Cola deal, on Wednesday sealed a $4m five -year sponsorship deal with soft drinks giant Coca-Cola.

At a ceremony in Lagos, the federation also unveiled its programme for the 2018 World Cup, which starts on February 7, with Nike unveiling the Super Eagles’ World Cup kits in London.

The Coca-Cola deal, which has an option of a renewal, extends to all the national teams, with the soft drinks producer having the marketing rights on all the activities of the NFF in Nigeria.

“Coca-Cola sponsors grassroots football globally; we help young people aspire to be great. It’s therefore a great delight to extend this hand of friendship to the NFF. Football connects Nigerians; it’s a language every Nigerian loves. We are pleased to be standing behind all the national teams. Your (NFF) success is our success,” Managing Director, Coca-Cola Nigeria, Bhupendra Suri, stated.

Managing Director Nigerian Bottling Company Georgios Polymenakos said, “The football project is dear to us and we intend to galvanise Nigerian football to grow to even more glory.”

NFF president Amaju Pinnick said the deal would help drive the federation ’s grassroots programme.

“It’s a dream to be associated with Coca-Cola. In the next few months, we will open six mini secretariats in six states namely Borno, Osun, Abia, Jigawa, Kwara and Bayelsa in our efforts to take the game to the grassroots. This deal will help facilitate that,” Pinnick stated.
