…Still waits for autopsy report

Family of the Late Chima Ikwunado and the Ikokwu 4 motors spare parts dealers have dragged the Police to the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt over the alleged torture and death of Chima Ikwunado in their custody and the torture of four of his colleagues by Police E-crack Squad also known as the Commissioner’s squad.
The case which is hinged on two fundamental rights matters were filed by the father of late Chima Ikwunado, Kelvin Ikwunado and Chima’s wife , Adaugo Ikwunado.
They are asking for Justice for the late Chima Ikwunado and four others tortured by the E-crack Squad of the Police at Mile one Police Station and the release of the dead body of the late Chima to his father.
However, when the matter came up in Court, the Inspector General of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6 was absent because they had not been served the court papers.
The Inspector General of Police and the other Officers listed in the charge were not present in court.
The presiding Judge, Justice James Kolawole Omotosho adjourned the case to February 27,2020, after listening to the two Counsel to the Ikwunado family, Princess Lawrence, said they will serve all the necessary processes and commence hearing on the next adjourned date.
Meanwhile, the late Chima Ikwunado’s family and Civil Societies and human rights groups waited endlessly today for autopsy report as promised by the Police Pathologist, Dr. Stephen Musa, after over five hours of autopsy examination last Monday and none was presented and no explanation given.
