Police Arrest 32-Year-Old Suspected Car Thief, Recover Two Vehicles

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Gabriel Okpe, for allegedly stealing from residents of Karu LGA of the State.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Thursday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday March 28 in Jikwoyi, FCT.

“On 27/03/2023 at about 12:30 pm, a complaint was lodged at Karshi Division that, an apartment located at Modupe Olusola street, Papaladna, Karshi Development Area of Karu LGA was burgled and household items including a 2010 model Toyota matrix vehicle were carted away by unknown persons.

“Upon receipt of the report, a discreet and diligent investigation was launched into the case. The effort of the Police operatives paid off on 28/03/2023 when the principal suspect; Gabriel Okpe ‘M’ 32yrs was trailed and arrested at Jikwoyi FCT, Abuja.

“The following items were recovered as exhibit: Toyota matrix with registration number ABC 277 FV Abuja, Honda Accord with registration number LC 699 EKY Lagos, two plasma television sets, one Elepaq generator, a standing fan, Laptop, Microwave, Gas cylinder and burner, two Ipads, a samsung smart phone, and other items,” the statement reads.

Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had ordered that the suspect should be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
