Police arrest two over attack on Rivers Hausa community

The police in Rivers State have said two persons have arrested for alleged involvement in Sunday’s attack on a Hausa community in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.


Recall that on Saturday, there was a clash between Ibo and Hausa scavengers during which two Hausa me died.


The state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, in a statement on Wednesday by the spokesman for the command, Nnamdi Omoni, added that the suspects were moved to the State Criminal and Investigation Department.


Mukan said, “The Commissioner of Police summoned the parties and brokered a truce. The bodies of the two deceased Hausa men were buried in accordance with Islamic injunctions. The area has been fortified and security beefed up.”


He assures all residents of Oyigbo of their safety and told them go about their lawful activities without fear of molestation.
