I needed that David dance, it was at my father’s burial – Tope Alabi

By Kehinde Phillips

The gospel singer Tope Alabi, the Logan ti ode crooner was clad in a tight fitting versace sweatshirt and joggers dancing. Not only did she dance heartily, she also demonstrated dance moves like the “gbe body” dance and others.

While some people have critiqued her change in dressing and attributed it to the wealth and fame she is now receiving. Others egged her on and asked judgements not to be made as “nobody holy pass”.

Speaking on the viral video that has many people talking, Tope Alabi says: “I needed that dance, it was at my father’s burial. I just needed to dance and worship God. As a spiritual person, you know you need that dance. It’s not easy to bury one’s father.”

Churches and event organizers need to understand that even as ministers, we have bills to pay, band members to settle and the expenses that come with recording sessions too.”
