The APC Bayelsa state Governorship candidate David Lyon is truly living life like the Biblical king David son of Jesse who was chosen by Samuel as the leader of Isreal was called up from his Shepherd work. And for David Lyon he may not possess fantastic academic credentials but started life in a rustic way that may encourage every hardworking youth like NIGERIAN DREAM where you can become somebody if you work hard. So, David Lyon having been born in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state fought hard to protecting the interest of his people from the actions and inaction of multinational oil and gas companies, operating in the Niger Delta region. This is how he came into the business of establishing security companies that went into surveillance jobs of eradicating illegal oil bunkering, Oil pipelines vandalism. First he worked as a Foreman at Western Geo-Physical Nig. Ltd. This ebullient man, David Lyon owns Darlon Oil and Gas Ltd, Darlon Group of companies Nig. Ltd and Arutex and sons Nig. Ltd. He runs a foundation known as DAVID LYON FOUNDATION –DLF.
In Bayelsa
state with 8 local Government areas he has been at the grassroots paying school
fees for indigent students, feeding the elderly people irrespective of their
political leaning. His undergraduate scholarship scheme remains active up to
date.
His political background is strong as he was once elected Councilor at Ward 4 of Southern Ijaw during the National Republican Convention-NRC before the military intervention. While in 1999, he was appointed care taker committee Chairman of Apoi Olodiama Local government development Center of old Rivers state now in Bayelsa state.
Being political active he joined All Progressives Congress –APC as during the trying moment of President Goodluck Jonathan emerging from PDP made APC not a well like political party in Bayelsa state but he continued to sponsor the activities of the party.

Given his large heart of carrying everybody along in his political activism the current Minister of state for Petroleum Timpre Sylva insisted to have David Lyon democratically elected in a Governorship primary election of APC in Bayelsa state of which he was said to have won. But two other aspirants of former Minister of state for Agriculture Senator Heneiken Lokpobiri and another Preye Aganaba disagreed with the outcome of the governorship primary of which is a subject of litigation to date prior to the governorship election of 16th of November, 2019.
