Why APC may lose in Ekiti- Opeyemi Bamidele

A former member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, and Congress Leader of All Progressives, APC, has identified factors that could cost the party the next election of governor in the state of Ekiti.

According to him, the internal crisis within the APC could affect the party’s chances in the election of governors scheduled for July 14.

On Tuesday, Bamidele said the desire of every APC member was that the party recovers the power of the People’s Democratic Party in elections.

The former legislator lamented that the current situation in which aspirants were making unfavorable comments to each other could break such a dream.

Bamidele, who is also aspiring to the position of governor, expressed disappointment over how some of his counterparts were using social media and existing APC platforms to discredit each other.

He said, “I heard aspirants who considered others unsalable. I have heard some describing some notable members and even a national officer as a foreigner in the APC.

“All these sinister and deleterious political movements can hinder our desire to take control of Ekiti, except that we are beginning to see ourselves as one and the time to do it is now.

“Those who hold a firm position after being warned by the party’s superior hierarchy should be sanctioned.” The APC is a party guided by the constitution and it should not trivialize issues that could disunite members, especially at the moment where we are approaching a critical election like this.

“The elections of the governors of Ekiti and Osun are strategic for our party, the polls will determine so much in our party and it will help send a signal that the APC is still very strong, acceptable and remains a movement in the world. ‘political hemisphere of the country.’
