The Rivers State Governor-Elect, Siminialayi Fubara has commended INEC for conducting one of the best elections in Rivers State with the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS.
” This election is one of the best conducted by INEC with the introduction of BVAS. I want to commend you for the innovation. Although there were little issues here and there, but moving forward,INEC should ensure the it’s staff, especially the adhoc are properly trained before future elections”.
He thanked Rivers people for the mandated and confidence reposed him. And pledged not to disappoint them.
Mr. Fubara said this today shortly after receiving his of Certificate of Return and also his deputy, Professor Mrs Ngozi Ordu. Members-Elect of State House of Assembly were presented theirs by the Rivers Resident Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr Alalibo Sinikiem.
 He, however, noted that there although there were hitches during this year’s election and called for proper training of INEC adhoc staff.
Mr Fubara thanked Rivers People for voting for him and for believing in the incoming administration which he said will continue to drive development in the state.
The governor-elect extended an olive branch to the opposition parties and those who contested against him during the Saturday, March 18, governorship election to work with him to ensure a better Rivers state.
Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu,the National Commissioner for INEC in charge of Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers States pressent.
Agbamuche-Mbu preparations are ongoing for conduct of the rescheduled National Assembly elections in three constituencies in the state.
She pointed out that those elected into office were given the mandate to serve the people of the State.
Governor Nyesom Wike and other top echelon of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were at INEC Office to witness the ceremony.
