Ibim Semenitari, Former MD NDDC joins PDP

Ibrahim Bakare/Port Harcourt.

Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Rivers State Commissioner For Information, Mrs Ibim Semenitari joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

She was received by the Executive Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Hon Akuro Tobin and other stalwarts of the party.

It would be recalled that about five months ago, precisely on July 10, this year, Mrs Semenitari resigned from the All Progressives Congress APC, after transmitting a formal letter to her Ward Chairman in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. Her husband is a Chief from Okrika.

Our Correspondent learnt that before she left APC five months ago she courteously  informed the former Transport Minister, her former boss.

Since she left APC, she had not declared for any political party.

Mrs Semenitari’s, father, Sir Gabriel Toby who was the Deputy Governor to former Governor Dr. Peter Odili is from Opobo in Opobo-Nkoro local government area.

It is also worthy to note that Siminalaye Fubara, the Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the PDP is also from Opobo.

Observers believe that the magnetic pull back to PDP just like Chris Finebone, former Spokesman of Rivers APC recently sworn in Commissioner for Information and Communications, also from Opobo may not be unconnected to being in same party to galvanize support for the Governorship candidate, Fubara.

At time of filing this report, Semenitari had not issued any official statement on latest development.
