Rivers 2023 Guber: Four Cabinet Members in Rivers State Resigned Their Appointments

About four cabinet members in Rivers State have reportedly resigned their appointments to contest in the 2023 state governorship election.

There is no official statement confirming their resignation, but it is believed that their resignations were done to beat the clause in the newly assented Electoral Act 2022 which says political appointees must completely vacate their office for eligibility to participate in party primaries.

In the meantime, 12 aspirants have picked the PDP nomination forms to contest in the 2023 Rivers State governorship election. The aspirants are Felix Obuah, Austin Opara, Senator George Sekibo, George Kelly, Tammy Danagogo, Senator Olaka Worgu, Boma Iyaye, David Briggs, Senator Lee Meaba, Isaac Kamalu, Abiye Sekibo and Sim Fubara.
