RIVERS STATE COMMISSION OF INQUIRY ON HUMAN RIGHT ABUSES, POLICE BRUTALITY AND EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS NEVER INVITED FORMER SARS COMMANDER IN RIVERS STATE– ACP AKIN FAKORODE

Spurious and vengeance seeking outcome of the Honourable Justice Chukwunenye Uriri retd led Rivers State Commission of inquiry on Human Right abuses, Police brutality and Extra Judicial killings has just submitted its report to the executive Governor of Rivers state Nyesom Ezenwo Wike with obvious lacuna begging for reasonable adjudication. Having sat for months investigating the several avalanches of reports from suspected victims of human right abuses, Police brutality and alleged extra judicial killings failed to give fair hearing to the Chief arrow head of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad Assistant Commissioner of Police Akin Victor Fakorode whereas his contact address and telephone number must have been domiciled with his place of service being Nigerian Police Service Commission.

It will be pre-mediated to comment on the content of the Justice Chukwunenye Uriri’s report since its content has not been made public and the White Paper expected to be made public soon may be after a hoax and vindictive in nature giving the existence of obvious malice and lost of confidence between Rivers state executive Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the then office of former Commander SARS in Rivers state over 2019 Election infractions and subsequent prosecution of notorious Illegal Fire arms trafficking citizens from Emohua Local government Area of rivers state. It is on public domain how consistently tax payer’s money was lavished on unwarranted media publicity against the person of Assistant Commissioner of Police Akin Victor Fakorode with each day’s front-page cover of national Newspapers carrying images and alleged spurious charges against ACP Akin Fakorode. Trust the University of Calabar trained Lawyer cum law enforcement officer who obtained leave from his employer Nigerian Police Force Service Commission to file and seek legal redress against suspected infringement of his fundamental human right and alleged character assassination of which the Rivers state Government and her accomplices being the organs several Newspaper organizations were dragged to court of competent jurisdiction for adjudication.

No wonder the Rivers state Commission of Inquiry on Human right abuses, Police brutality and extra judicial killings ought have recuse itself from doing what was needful since several batteries of litigation involving ACP Akin Victor Fakorode against Rivers state Government led by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike were still on-going at various judicial divisions across Nigeria from Federal High Court  Lagos, Rivers state Judiciary  Port Harcourt judicial divisions as any attempt to do otherwise would have been sub-judices and an effort in futility null and void.

The outcome of such quasi judicial report in the eyes of the law is wasteful should it indict ACP Akin Fakorode as it is elementary in law that with established malice against the person and office of former Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad ACP Akin Fakorode such indictment from White-Paper is only pre-mediated and sub-judices which is like slaughtering a pregnant cow at home before taking it to the abortorium.

Towncrier Judicial Correspondent in its findings uncovered that while submitting the report on Friday 19^th of February, 2021 retired Honourable Justice Chukwunenye Uriri in his statement said that “Rivers state had the highest degree of total disregard of law and order by law enforcement agencies” this is an indication the outcome of the White paper will be all set out to nail ACP Akin Victor Fakorode. But when this reporter reached to a senior officer in the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad who never wanted his name in print said ACP Akin Victor Fakorode as ACP AKIN FAKORODE of SARS supervised the unit in the most transparent and accountable manner possible with very strict application of all established principles of human rights and rule of law. He made his phone number available to members of the public and to all media houses as he responded to every complaint against SARS operatives however insignificant or inconsequential such complaints must have been. Many electronic and media houses will confirm that every complaint against Police actions that fell below acceptable professional standards were promptly dealt with when such was brought to his attention.

Therefore, any report of the Human rights panel in Rivers State without valid evidence of alleged atrocities are politically motivated and intended only for the purposes of mischief. And the good people of Rivers state should kindly ignore such ill motivated report as they are containing no iota of truth whatsoever. It is on record that this same law enforcement officer has won several court cases against Rivers state Government one of which was that judgment from Federal High Court sitting at Port Harcourt judicial Division which jailed Emesiobi and three others all from Emohua LGA in Rivers comprising of 4-notorious armed robbers arrested with illegal fire arms. The Rivers state judiciary Port Harcourt Division dismissed the charges against the Rivers state born armed robbers but ACP Akin Fakorode as a Lawyer and well-informed Law enforcement Officer took the case file to Federal High Court Port Harcourt judicial Division and they were convicted at the end the trial.
