Port Harcourt Based Pastor Differs On Bakare Comments

A popular Port Harcourt based Pastor, Alfred Aku-Chukwu Umejuru has kicked against a statement credited to a Lagos based pastor (name withheld) over his stance against the reopening of churches in the country maintaining that no true man of God will be comfortable for churches to be closed down.

He stressing that even in the days of Jesus Christ, the churches were having services and several persons with different diseases were healed.

Speaking to the Town Crier Online in Port Harcourt, Pastor Umejuru, who is the Senior Pastor of Distinction Ministries, said the issue of covid19 has no meaning  to stop the church of God from holding, pointing out, that out the mention of the name of Jesus Christ every sickness bow and all diseases disappeared.

He maintained that the purported statement from the pastor does not in any way cover all the churches in the country because the pastor is not Jesus Christ that his word or statement should cover all.

“Now if a church could be closed down because of covid19. Now in the days of Jesus Christ, even, his disciples, they were having services in the midst of leprosy infected persons and some of them in the course of the service their sickness disappear .and, these disease bow, because at the mention of the name of Jesus  Christ every kneel bowed” he stressed.

The PH clergy maintained that nobody should even mention about closing the churches, because of covid19, since he said the power of God is rested upon the people shoulders, even as he further posited that he was not comfortable that the churches were restricted during the lockdown because of covid19.

“It is a big blow on the churches, and if we don’t stand up against this now: well, it may be a stigma on the churches for the next generation” the radical pastor said.

Asked that the bible encourages people to be subject to the authority…, the pastor quickly cut-in-, stressing thus: that he is not against obedience to constituted authority, but said he is not comfortable about the way and manner some of these policies are carried out, adding that, the truth remains, when government begins to make themselves to be like God. “When the government begins to make rules that affect our operation s, this indirectly may look as if government is bigger than God.” He said.
