Eight Members of Diobu Vigilantes nabbed by Police in Port Harcourt for stripping Lady naked, inserting fingers in her private part and videoing her

Eight Members of Diobu Vigilantee in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state, have been arrested by Rivers State Police Command for sexually abusing a 21 year old Lady, illegal detention and torture.
According to the report, with the assistance of Rivers State Civil Rights Council, the ordeal of the Lady, Miss Precious and her two brothers in the hands of the accused members of Diobu Vigilante was reported to the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Gobum Mukan who had vowed that Humanrights of citizens will be protected subsequently ordered for their arrest.
It was learnt that the father of Miss Precious and her siblings were reported to the Vigilante accusing them of stealing money.
The Police Public Relations Officer DSP. Nnamdi Omoni, who is also a Lawyer, confirmed the arrest stating that it is unlawful for Vigilante groups to arrest and detain suspects, but can provide information to the Police for effective community Policing.
DSP Omoni stressed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan, has order for investigation into the matter and the transfer of the case to State CID .

Meanwhile, the victim Miss Precious, while narrating her ordeal alleged that the Vigilante in members stripped her naked in their office, and inserted fingers in her private part and also made video of her stake naked.

She added that the Vigilante members detained her and her brothers from 8pm on Saturday,11th April, 2020 to Sunday 12th,April 2020.
She also explained that the Vigilante members shaved their hair and eyelids before releasing them, however called on the Police and other relevant authorities to ensure Justice is done.

Reacting to the incident, Secretary Rivers State Civil Rights Council, Miss. Uzoma Kelechi, appealed to the Nigeria Police to ensure Justice is served to all parties in the matter.
Recall could be made that in the maiden press briefing by CP Joseph Gobum Mukan he assured that Humanrights, Anti-corruption and the protection of lives and Properties are his core mandates in the state.
