One of the farmers, identified as Adetona Owolabi, was allegedly killed on Thursday, January 18, in his farm at Afon, while the other, identified as Ige, was killed the following day in Asa.

 

It was gathered that Adetona was working on his farm when he observed that herds of cattle were grazing on the farm and ate his cassava, yam and vegetables.

 

Eyewitnesses said the herdsmen attacked him with machetes for daring to challenge them for allowing cattle into his farmland and destroyed all the farm produce.

 

When contacted to confirm the incident, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that he was yet to be briefed over the incident but promised to get back when he is fully briefed.

The incident occurred barely few hours after the State Government held a meeting with security chiefs and representatives of the various interest groups, including the leaders of the Fulani, Hausa communities and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

 

The meeting was held in order to prevent clashes between herdsmen and farmers and also to ensure safety of lives and property.

 

The deceased, who was in his mid-60s, it was learnt, was inflicted with varying degrees of machete cuts all over his body until he died.

 

Cult Members Arrested While Having Their Meeting By 2am In Lagos

The Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) arrested some set of cult members while having their meeting around 2:00am today at Eputu Axis, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government in Lagos.

According to the Corps boss, Mr Lateef S. O. , he said they have been a threat to the lives of the people in the Community of Ibeju-Lekki at large. “Their colleagues in this act will also be apprehended at their due time”.
The Executive Chairman Ibeju-Lekki, Hon. Dr. Kemi Surakat, who is the Chief Security Personnel of the Local Government, was invited to see before taking them to the LNSC Headquarter at Lagos.

He said “This administration is for zero tolerance to insecurity and therefore all hands must be on desk to ensure security of lives, properties and total peace in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government”.
