Chris Finebone, Rivers APC Publicity Secretary dumps party for PDP

*Wike to award ring road  contract in Opobo, Finebone’s Community

Daniel Efe/Port Harcourt
All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State Spokesperson, Chris Finebone, has dumped the party to the Peoples Democratic Party,

PDP.

Mr. Finebone began trending on social media yesterday evening after a photo emerged showing him standing with Governor Wike, PDP governorship candidate, Siminalayi Fubara, and a former APC Chairman, Davies Ibiamu-Ikanya.

PDP governorship candidate, Siminalayi Fubara is a kinsman of Finebone from the same Opobo community like Finebone from Opobo Nkoro local government area of the state.

The seeming defection of Finebone to PDP has expectedly elicited Social Media buzz because who is a political thorn-in- flesh of Governor Nyesom Wike and his administration, he is also one key political ally of the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and founding member of APC.

Finebone, a known critic of Governor Wike and the PDP, and one of the pillars of APC still standing in the party was quoted to have said that ‘Fubara is his brother It is what it is’ and that he needs to support him.

Efforts to reach Chris Finebone and leadership of the APC in Rivers State to confirm the incident have not been successful.

When our Correspondent called his phone number it was switched off.

As expected, the defection of Finebone has elicited jubilation in PDP.

Samuel Nwanosike, a staunch ally of Wike and the current Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area has welcomed “Home Chris Finebone” to PDP .

Our Correspondent reports that since the emergence of Siminalayi Fubara as the PDP Governorship Candidate, the indigenes of Opobo in other political parties have been under intense pressure to decamp to PDP to support their brother to win in 2023 Governorship candidate.

More defections are expected. All eyes are now on Dr Dakuku Peterside, the former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, NIMASA and former Governorship candidate of APC also from Opobo to defect.

A fallout from the closed door meeting between the Governor and three men is the report that the Rivers State governor,  Wike, has promised to award the contract for the construction of Opobo Ring Road before he leaves office in 2923.

Governor Wike stated this when he received Warisenibo Chris Finebone and Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya in his residence Thursday evening.

In response to comments made by Mr. Finebone, Gov. Wike said, “I will award the contract for the Opobo Ring Road and ensure that the money to pay is made available before I leave office in May, 2023.

“It is God that has made your son to be the governorship candidate of our Party. The same God will make him win to His glory. I did not plan it but God did it. Opobo people should be thanking God for his mercies, Gov. Wike declared.

Continuing, the governor called on the people to close ranks and support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also used the opportunity to debunk the fake news that he had ordered that the PDP flags be removed.

“You can imagine the kind of fake news people bandy about. I don’t waste my time on such falsehood,” he said.
