NDMPN HONOURS RIVERS CP, OTHERS

The Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN), a group of media practitioners in the Niger Delta region of the South South geopolitical zone of Nigeria has honoured the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu for his outstanding achievements since his deployment to the state.

Others also honoured at the occasion included My-Ace China, popularly known as the Mayor of Housing and Construction in the state; Sir Dan Harrison, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dan Harrison Nigeria LTD; Dr Chukwuemeka Elele, the Chief Medical Officer in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) and Mr Daniyu Ahmid Gbolagade.

The awards were presented to the awardees on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital in a one day capacity building & Re-orientation of Youth in the Niger Delta seminar that held at the state headquarters of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

In his opening remarks at the event, Coordinator of the group, Mr Joseph Asormeji reiterated the commitment of the group to assist youth of the region to actualize their potentials in a peaceful democratic environment.

He also added that his group had carried out medical outreaches in the region and is currently planning on embarking on prison visitation across the region.

Responding, the state Police Commissioner, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who was represented by Ireju Barasua, a former Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command of the Police thanked the group for recognising the achievements of the Commissioner and advised journalists to always investigate and confirm their reports before publication.

All the award recipients spoke at the event and commended the group for the awards which they said would spur them into more action.
