Our Elites, Leaders Have Failed Us – AA Rivers Reps Candidate

As flood continues to ravage some parts of the Niger Delta region and across, the Action Alliance candidate for Okrika/Ogu/Bolo Federal constituency in Rivers State, Amb. Wahabi Promise Koko has called on relevant authorities to check on activities of people building against natural waterways in the country so as to forestall further calamities against those living around the coastal environment.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with our reporter  in Port – Harcourt, Amb.  Koko, said the call became pertinent because  some individuals build on natural waterways which  are  caused by some of the disasters that our people  living around the coastal areas  are going through, adding that the constant flooding is equally part of the failure of some of our leaders and elites.

The frontline AA National Assembly candidate suggested that  constant distil ting and dredging of our carnal and by extension our water ways will help to stop the issue of perennial flooding and destruction witnessed every year in the country, adding that above are those saddled with the responsibility must be alive to work.

He maintained that it will be necessary that relevant authority takes proactive measure in ensuring the people have adequate knowledge about the dangers of building across natural waterways and throwing garbage into our rivers, adding that parts of the problem is that some of the people saddled with the responsibility of taking care of this issues are not responsive and proactive on their duty, hence the continued flooding of our communities.

“There is need to check on those that build along natural ways no matter how highly place the individuals”. He said

Continuing, the AA candidate explained that it was highly regrettable that some of the avoidable disasters confronting our people were captured in the budgets year in year but had to fail due to poor leadership and poor representation, perhaps by those elected to represent them.

Amb. Koko who is pharmacist, said however it was on the basics of poor representation that he heed to the calls of his people so that he can be a voice to the voiceless if elected, adding that he will used the opportunity to re-echoed and speak on those issues and challenges confronting the people of the coastal region and across.

“My duty will be …if am elected to reecho the voice of my people.” He explained.

The Ogu born politician and technocrat while further answering questions insisted that Rivers state will be very lucky to have a man like Dr. Dawari George as their governor come 2023 if he is elected.

“I can tell you, Dr. Dawari George is one of the finest and one of the best choices for Rivers people. He is experienced, level headed and has what it takes to make the State work again” Amb. Koko said.
