PDP Crisis: Atiku, Wike quarrel Deepens

Rivers state Governor Barr. Nyesom Wike and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar seeming cold war is now so deep that some persons have suggested it may take another dimension if not well handled.

Alhaji Atiku is the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP),while incumbent governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike was the second runner-up during the presidential primaries that preceded the controversy and the current brouhaha witnessed in recent time.

Nyesom Wike, subsequently after the outcome of the primaries has staged a different follow-up about the whole exercise he had alleged in some quarters that some elders from the south-south geopolitical zone betrayed him and since then has been very bitter about everything concerning his party.

While the cold-war seem thickens, some persons are now alleging that the governor is just buying time for defection any time soon.

Since the end of the party’s primaries the former vice president Atiku Abubakar  has only spoken once with his estranged runner up outside the country, even though the meetings seem not to have yielded much effect as was speculated by political watchers across the nation.

Though, the former vice president had said his choice of his running mate was centred on the attitude and cool headedness of the Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Since after the election, they have been banter here and there with some controversy greeting the state. The consequences of the controversy had led to the realignment of some Wike’s core supporters and loyalists leaving him to join the other side ahead of the 2023 general election.

While the issue is now generating, at home Governor Wike is calling on some of his critics especially those that have opposed to campaign for the party rather staying in Abuja campaigning against the party.

The governor is also using the commissioning of projects as his selling point, inviting serving, immediate and party leaders for the commissioning of projects.
