Rivers PDP Structure is My Investment -Chief Albert Owuru

 

 

 

The adjudged constitutional winner of 2019 presidential election in Nigeria Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru, has taken a strong swipe at former Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike for daring to claim ownership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in that state.

 

Chief Owuru in an Online interview with this publication ,claimed that all has today manifested in the Rivers PDP and it’s political architecture is entirely his investment as he claimed, himself and other prominent Rivers sons started the party out of nothing from the scratch, pointing out that it was quite embarrassing that the F.C.T minister could make such a bogus claim about structure of the PDP when people like himself is still alive.

 

“what is Nyesom Wike Talking about when I am still alive! The entire PDP is my own investment. I refused to comment on some issues in the state because I was sabbatical. But I want to be quoted correctly that the entire PDP is my investment, because we started PDP from nothing, when the likes of Chief Sergeant Awuse, who is popularly called the Bulldozer was side-lined.

 

Continuing, and when Awuse left, we had to put Dr. Peter Odile there as the flagbearer of PDP and little did we know that he had no money even after he left as the deputy governor during Chief Rufus Ada George administration” He said.

 

Owuru who is a frontline politician maintained that when the PDP came into birth way back in 1998/ 99 then, that it took his connection as the president of the Port Harcourt Chambers of commerce and the likes of late Dr.Marsahl Harry, Chief U.G Ake,Chief Uche Secondus ,late Chief A.K Dikibo and other prominent like minds to strategies ,mobilised and build up a veritable party structure to win election in 1999.

 

According to him “ although, lots happened during that period in that people even when it was unknown to some of us that Dr.Peter Odill’s name was submitted as the flagbearer of our party then through late Dr.Marshall harry, Chief A.K Dikibo including one Ahoada man which name I can’t recall right now who were the elders that I know that came to Odili rescued.”

 

He added that it was at the later part of 1999 that they realised that the man they have invested their hope and hard-earned money being Dr.Peter Odili ,had no money, stressing that it took him as the president of the PH chambers of commerce to reach out to some prominent and rich Rivers sons to rise the kind of money needed to run the 1999 general election which we eventually won.

 

Chief Owuru who is also a lawyer and several times presidential flag bearer of Hope Democratic Party(HDP),recalled that it took himself and late Marshal Harry ,to have introduced the FCT minister Chief Nyesom Wike to the PDP when he was about to go on his N.Y.S.C scheme to contest as the chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, adding that it was on that premise that he championed the emergence of the late Nnamdi Wokekoro as the Major of Port Harcourt.

 

He argued that what has just transpired in Rivers state in the political scene is a fall out of many bloodsheds of innocent Rivers lives that has been wasted by successive administrations in the state, hinting that the whole about his takes is the fact as he does not hold anything against any one.

 

The Rivers born politician fumed at the politics where one man and ex-governor would insist on the control of state resources against the collective will of the people’s welfare, even as he however advised elders of the region to rechannelled their focus to the issue of resource control in the Niger Delta.

 

“I think what our people need now is the issue of resource control and not the other way around where one man will want to control the resources of our state” He stated.
