City People Magazine Loses Staff —Bunmi Toki Durojaiye
The death of Mrs. Bunmi Toki-Durojaiye Business Development Manager-Port Harcourt Office has been announced as she passed away in the early hours of Thursday 23rd of February, 2023. Before her untimely death, she was married to Engineer Durojaiye a first Class Ahmadu Bello University Zaria trained structural Engineer with whom she begot two male children. Late Mrs. Bunmi Durojaiye was hardworking and resourceful as she bagged a Bachelor’s Degree B. A in Linguistics from University of Jos Plateau State and Diploma in Law. She started her early education at Saint Claire’s Anglican Girls’ Grammar school, Offa Kwara state being a native of Offa Kwara state.
Her Journalism career began with Kwara State Publishing Corporation where she served with the Herald Newspapers. In her days with City People Magazine Lagos she progressed from Senior Reporter in 2005 to Business Development Manager South-South in later years. She was a member of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners chapel Port Harcourt. The members of Correspondents’ Chapel Nigeria Union of Journalists-NUJ Rivers state Council are currently in a state of shock as Mr. Amaechi Okonkwo first broke the news of the death of late Mrs. Bunmi Toki-Durojaiye as he wrote “Dear Colleagues this is to announce the passing away of Mrs. Bunmi Durojaiye of the City people Magazine. Late Durojaiye was one of our suspended members who have been in litigation with NUJ since January 2018. Information reaching me has it that she died this morning from an unconfirmed ailment. Her remains has been deposited at the Military Hospital Mortuary, Port Harcourt. Our sincere condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.”
While Mr. Barth Ndubuwa of NewsDirect Newspapers Port Harcourt office wrote “This life! I don’t know what are we actually. God!” Ms Clarice Azuatalam of VERBATIM Magazine in state of shock posted “Jesus Christ! Chai! Chai! may her soul rest in peace and may God console and comfort the family she left behind.” Steve Momoh wrote “so sad! Auntie Bunmi” And Mr. Emma Masha wrote “Jesus Christ! What a rude shock.” Okafor Ofiebor Bureau Chief of TheNews Magazine and PM News wrote “Oh No. Sad. Shocking. Very sad indeed. We’re just mere Candles in the wind. May her soul rest in Peace.” As Ben Eguzozie Ph.D of A.M Business Newspaper wrote “ Jesus ! Bunmi Durojaiye.”
Late Mrs. Bunmi Toki-Durojaiye in her life time was vivacious and always providing soft drinks for entertainment to her Correspondents’ Chapel NUJ monthly Meetings and her lively dispositions earned a lot of friends and acquaintances especially in her Journalism career. In 2018 she aspired to be elected as Vice Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel Nigeria Union of Journalists Rivers state Council but she was surreptitiously disqualified among others who are currently challenging their disqualification at Court 2 National Industrial Court of Nigeria -NICN with Honourable Justice Nelson Ogbuanya presiding and after 5-years the court case is yet to be called up for hearing after several adjournments.
