Ahead of Saturday March 11 governorship election, some members of All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC,in Rivers State have said members of the party will not vote for Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the party.

According to them, the decision to dump Cole and vote for Siminalayi Fubara, the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is to compensate for the massive support given to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate to win last Saturday’s governorship election in Rivers by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Tony Okocha, a former Chief of Staff to former Governor Chibuike Amaechi said this while speaking on behalf the APC, Independent Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, in Rivers State.

He said said Wike was instrumental to the victory of Tinubu and subsequently, the victory of the APC presidential candidate.

Recall that Tinubu garnered over 80,239, votes in Rivers in last Saturday’s election.

Okocha stated that without efforts of Wike, Tinubu would not have secured up to the 25% constitutional requirement expected from the State.

Okocha commended the Governor for the support that has given the party victory for the first time in the state.

He assured that Tinubu’s Supporters in Rivers will throw their weight behind the PDP governorship candidate to compensate Wike for the support.

At the time filing this report, it was not clear the reaction of the leadership of Rivers APC whose candidate,Tonye Cole has been canvassing for more support for him and the party despite the outcome of Presidential election

Meanwhile, Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa Spokesman of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, said the said the Saturday March 11 Governorship should be a payback time against those who sabotaged the PDP Presidential Candidate.

He asked Rivers people to still turnout on Saturday to vote and defend their votes by ensure their votes count.
